June 20 First Time Homebuying Book RecommendationAnybody who is buying a home for the first time would be well advised to read The Savvy Woman's Homebuying Handbook by Tara-Nicholle Nelson, Esq., published in 2007. It is just excellent and will transform you from vulnerable to enpowered on this topic. It is easy to understand and extremely thorough, also contains "Insider Secrets" that explain how to handle over one hundred tricky situations. Do yourself a favor and spend $25 on what will give you insight, guidance and peace of mind for the navigating the endlessly sharky waters of first time home buying! December 13 Photographing the First LadyWhat fun to have photographed First Lady Laura Bush last week when she visited the Woodrow Wilson House Museum to view their Presidential Dish exhibition, www.WoodrowWilsonHouse.org
Oh so much planning of equipment and technique goes into assignments like this. Long hours too, since all equipment has to be placed for the Secret Service to inspect hours before the event; we started at 5 a.m.
I was cleared to accompany the First Lady and her photographer and was not confined behind the ropes with other media. This gave my photographs a variety of angles and backgrounds since she visited all three floors of the museum. We rush produced them in time for the museum's holiday party that evening and made a digital slide show for the guests. It was our holiday gift to the museum.
Do visit the museum if you are in Washington, D.C. It is the city's only Presidential museum and filled with fascinating objects. The museum is arranged just as when President Wilson lived there at the conclusion of his term of office, so it is easy to get a sense of history and see how he lived.
Make sure to get a tour with a docent on your visit. It will bring your attention to many more details than you would ever notice by just walking around.
June 04 A Favorite Afternoon GetawayMy husband Todd and I recently took a country ride out to Warrenton, Va, about 45 minutes west of DC, to Berkley Gallery in historic old town Warrenton. If your taste is traditional American paintings and sculpture this gallery is worth the ride. Check out their web site www.berkleygallery.com There are several nice little restaurants just a few doors/blocks away. April 11 April 11, 2007Happy Sweet 16 Gaby!
My husband Todd and I just photographed Gaby's fabulous Sweet 16 party and love this portrait we made of her. It celebrates her Hawaiin, Peruvian and American heritage. Gaby you are such a lady! |
