December 13 Photographing the First LadyWhat fun to have photographed First Lady Laura Bush last week when she visited the Woodrow Wilson House Museum to view their Presidential Dish exhibition, www.WoodrowWilsonHouse.org
Oh so much planning of equipment and technique goes into assignments like this. Long hours too, since all equipment has to be placed for the Secret Service to inspect hours before the event; we started at 5 a.m.
I was cleared to accompany the First Lady and her photographer and was not confined behind the ropes with other media. This gave my photographs a variety of angles and backgrounds since she visited all three floors of the museum. We rush produced them in time for the museum's holiday party that evening and made a digital slide show for the guests. It was our holiday gift to the museum.
Do visit the museum if you are in Washington, D.C. It is the city's only Presidential museum and filled with fascinating objects. The museum is arranged just as when President Wilson lived there at the conclusion of his term of office, so it is easy to get a sense of history and see how he lived.
Make sure to get a tour with a docent on your visit. It will bring your attention to many more details than you would ever notice by just walking around.
